Reverend Doctor Christopher Dewayne Handy
The Reverend Doctor Christopher Dewayne Handy is a native of Monroe, Louisiana.
He received his early education at Wossman High School in Monroe, Louisiana in
1984. He preached his first sermon December 3, 1989, and received his licensed
to minister in 1990 and was later ordained in 1996.
His higher education includes graduating from Louisiana Business College in
Monroe in 1990 with an Associate Degree in Business Administration. Later he attended
United Theological Seminary in Monroe, LA. He enrolled in Andersonville Baptist
College in Camilla, Ga., where he earned his Bachelor of Religious Education Degree,
Bachelor of Theology Degree, Master of Divinity Degree, and his Doctorate in Theology
Degree. He attended the Hartford Biblical Institute in Detroit, Michigan where
he studied African history, African-American studies, and Christian philosophy.
He attended Wheaten College in Wheaten, IL and studied physiology focusing on
counseling. He has been awarded several civic citations and several honorary degrees
including a Doctorate in Humanities from the Institute for Christian Works Bible
College and Seminary in Mount Vernon, WA. Dr. Handy is a licensed and certified
marriage and family therapist.
While Dr. Handy was serving as an associate minister and later as an assistant
pastor. His visions of community outreach allowed for his past work experience
to include serving in the role of director of youth development, community development
relation's director, and also director of family in need coalition (FINC). He
later developed several programs for the at-risk and troubled youths that focused
on education, encouragement, enlightenment, and enrichment. Dr. Handy has written
many articles for newspapers and magazine as well as his first book called "The
Scars of Racism." His first book made a dramatic impact on the community
as well as the nation by offering workable solutions to disease that is eating
away at the fabric of our society.
Presently, Dr. Handy is Pastor of The New Testament Bible Church, which he
organized in 1999. TNTBC is a non-denomination ministry that reaches out to all
people regardless of religious background, race, creed, or sex. Dr. Handy's vision
is to reach out to the un-churched of the world and present to them with the word
of God. Currently he's working on his second book as well building his ministry
to touch the lives of the lost of this world.
Reverend Handy is married and has three children.
